Semaglutide

Long-acting weekly GLP-1 analogue used in obesity and type 2 diabetes trials (STEP / SUSTAIN). Titrate slowly.

What it does / how it works

Copies the gut hormone GLP-1. It tells the pancreas to release insulin when glucose is high, slows how fast the stomach empties, and reduces appetite signals in the brain. That is why weight and blood-sugar trials use a slow weekly climb.
